Is there a function that can be called if the session is ready for a new input. Currently I just do a wait for a few seconds and then do the next command but with this method there is no guaranty that the session is ready for a new command.

I had a quick look and didnt find any operation to get the position attribute.

What you can do is:
1 - try to set a text in a position and check if there is an error (there is a error trown for trying to set an not editable field)
2 - Send and TAB key so your cursor goes to the right spot, before sending the desired text
3 - Check in advance (in an terminal) what are te positions that you can change, and the right information yo can enter

I believe that the third option is what most of us use for automation os 3270 sessions....

Good luck
